Contemporary House Design with a Floating Roof with a Deep Overhang

This Contemporary house is known as Retrospect Vineyards Residence. It was designed by   Swatt Miers Architects and finished in 2014. The contemporary home is located in Windsor, California, USA. The rectilinear house was designed by the architect with living area and dining area over looked family room on the mezzanine have different level  so it looks like second level area.   

The unique thing about the house is a floating roof with a deep overhang spans a glass walled guest house and main house. It also creates protected outdoor kitchen and dining terrace which has pool. In order to make low maintenance house, the materials selected are Windsor and St. Tropez limestone and white cement plaster for the exterior cladding. 

To allow Natural light and to penetrate the house, the architect placed window systems vary strategically. To make shading devices on the north side, custom wood privacy is screened on the side. To make the interior so comfortable and warm, fumed and whitewashed white oak dominating the interior.

This amazing home is known as mountain guest house. This house is located in Barcelona, Spain and it was designed by dom arquitectura.  If I’m not mistake, this house is the result of remodeling house. The first remodeling was setting the insulation and waterproofing and the same was also done for interior space and façade.  The main concept of this house is to open the inside space to outside.
